Setting Up VPN connection.

Latest response

Hi All,

New to RH. Could someone please point me in the right direction for installing/configuring a VPN connection on my new system.

I have followed the "how-to" here : https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Deployment_Guide/sec-Establishing_a_VPN_Connection.html

However, when presented with the options, expecting to see "pptp" in step six (i have installed the only pptp package available from RH repos), all i see is "Import from file..."

What am I missing?

Kind regards.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, the NetworkManager plugin for configuring PPTP-based VPN is not included in the official RHEL repositories. If you wish to use the GUI for configuring PPTP, you can use the package [1] from the EPEL [2] repos. Note that this is not supported by Red Hat. See [3] for instructions on how to enable EPEL repos.
