migraton from hypervisor6 to hypervisor7
Hi,
We are considering migration ll out machines to RHEL 7, including the hypervisors. At the moment out RHEV-M is running on separate server outside cloud.
We have 3 hypervisors (with more than 100 VMs) running latest hypervisor6, and I was wondering if there is any documentation about migrating hypervisors from version 6 to 7 without loosing data and configured VMs.
Can I just Delete machine from cluster, reinstall with hypervisor7 and add it back to cluster? Will I be able to migrate machines running on hypervisor6 to hypervisor7?
Thanks,
Krzysztof

Hi Krzysztof
We've asked the same question. Details of a migraion procedure are a little sketchy at the moment.
So far I've be told that it will not be possible to mix RHEL6 and RHEL7 based hypervisors in a logical cluster.
RHEV 3.5 gives you the option to live-migrate VM load between RHEL6 and RHEL7 based logical clusters, but not back the other way.
RHEV3.4 and prior would require downtime to change the logical cluster relationship of the VM which is the route we'll probably be taking, although we'd like to test the process first !
Hey Krzysztof and Richard, this article may help: Live Migrating VMs From RHEL 6 Hypervisors to RHEL 7 Hypervisors
