Best file system for better performance under heavy workload and simultaneous user access linux
Hi All,
We are currently using RHEL 5.8 (VM in VMware 5.0) with SAP installed in it.
We are setting up new servers from scratch. We have planned for RHEL 6.5 as per customer requirement.
OS: RHEL 6.5 servers
We will be using this server for SAP application and this OS will be on VMware VM.
EXT4 comes by default in RHEL 6.5. Would like to know whether we can go with EXT4 or with XFS.
Which is the best file system for for better performance under heavy workload and simultaneous user access linux
Thanks

I can't give a definitive answer here but I would recommend you perform loading testing with both filesystems. Someone more knowledgeable in filesystems may also provide an answer.
The document located at [1] details the various technology capabilities and limits of the various RHEL versions. It includes details on filesystems and may provide some guidance on choosing a filesystem, particularly sizing.
The creation of a filesystem requires a number of parameters, which can affect its performance. To help you with this task we created a filesystem calculator, a web-hosted application at [2] which " is designed to help you determine the optimal parameters for creating ext3/ext4/xfs file systems."
