Red hat cluster over vmware

Latest response

Hi,
I am trying to build a Red hat cluster over 2 vms
and looking for a best practice to this implementation.
1- Fencing devices?
2- how to present the Q and the shared volumes?
3- special parameters/ configurations.

env:
- RHEL 6.4
- exsxi /vcenter 5.5
- EMC SAN storage.

any document/ article or information is appreciated.

Best practice would really depend on what you are attempting to achieve from your cluster? Are you configuring it for redundancy, load balancing do you plan to cluster database, filesystem (GFS)? etc.

Is it an existing physical cluster you are migrating? or a new cluster?

Mainly it is for redundancy, i want to create (as Proof of concept/testing) FTP high available solution with shared file system.

Hello wataniya,
You may wish to consider a solution like Red Hat Storage (https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/storage/gluster) which has several methods for providing redundancy and/or high-availability.

This supported configuration document may answer some of your questions
https://access.redhat.com/articles/29440

Your first hurdle is that it is minimum RHEL 6.6 supported on vSphere 5.5 in the above support matrix for HA.
