what can be used to do linux LDAP replication for DR?

you don't say which release or LDAP technology you are using, but we do have some notes in How to configure replication in OpenLDAP 2.3? and also Openldap Replication FAQ's.

If you can use Openldap 2.4 and this will allow to use have a multi master ldap enviroment (Multi Mmaste Replication - MMR), so if ldap server #1 dies then ldap server #2, which was kept in kept with #1 will able to provide the same service as the one that just died. Using 2.3 would be taking a step for if needed DR.
