How remove node from cluster in rhevm

Latest response

Hello experts

I have 2 cluster of rhev. The first cluster have 4 nodes with rhev 3.5 and the second cluster have 5 nodes with RHEV 3.3. I need remove a node from cluster with RHEV 3.3, reinstall OS and re-assign the host to the cluster with rhev 3.5

I understand the procedure is the following

  • Setting node in Maintenance
  • Delete Node from cluster.

My questions is the following: I need other procedure by remove the node or only with the remove the cluster is sufficient.

Thanks for your comments

Hi Sebastian

Since you talk of your "clusters" being of two varying version of RHEV, I take this to mean you have two separate RHEV environments ?
It's just that “cluster” in terms of RHEV can be a logical group of hypervisors , and they can be of differing compatibility versions within the single RHEV environment.

If your particular case is the former, then your procedure is correct.

However, I would be very careful to ensure that you unzone/detach/unconfigure any storage shared with remaining hypervisor nodes in your RHEV 3.3 environment prior to rebuilding and redeploying in your RHEV 3.5 environment.

The logic within RHEV should not allow you to use the storage in your 3.5 environment (since it won't be shared with the others in the cluster) , but its also too easy to mistakenly deploy RHEV-H itself onto shared storage which would result in a badly corrupted storage domain on your 3.3 environment. (yep – done that !)

Best of luck
