Redhat 5 Console through HP iLO - Keyboard not working

Latest response

The keyboard works fine during the BIOS part of the boot (HP BL460c), but once the server is up and at the login prompt, the keyboard no longer works...Anyone have an idea of how to address this?

I'll apologize in advance for how ridiculous this question might seem... but.. Do you have the ILO license for your system?

It's been quite a while since I have worked on HP, but I thought the unlicensed ILO would allow it to boot, start an install, etc...

Again - I apologize if this is completely off base... but here's a link to the Advanced ILO (which appears to have a 60-day trail)

No Worries....we just removed the nousb line from the kernel, and that seemed to fix it. Im still not sure whey though becuase we have that on several others and the keyboard works....maybe this is an issue for RHEL 5 only?

I wonder if there is different emulation type that can be defined for the ILO? (totally pulling that out of the air ;-) I know our Dell's do some awfully bizarre stuff to connect the DRAC to the host OS.

Thanks for updating the thread in case someone else encounters the same issue.

It wouldn't be unheard of for the issue to be RHEL5 specific. Our use of RedHat on HP has steadily improving over the years. The two best things have been in moving off of RHEL 5 and updating to iLO 3 (and now, iLO 4). Graphical-console behavior under EL5 straight-up sucked - especially when it came to mouse behavior. Never noticed have much in the way of the type of keyboard issues you've described, however.
