NOOB Question about LDAP and Satellite 6

Latest response

I see from the documentation that you can connect to an LDAP for authorization. BUT can you use Microsoft Active Directory with this product and how? (slight reference to law firm "Dewey, Cheatum and How" ) I did not choose to use Active Directory but have been given no choice about it.

Yes you can via SSSD and activating the "Use PAM" Authentication option inside of Satellite for each of your users after setting up PAM auth for Satellite.

If you add ldap - it may be good to determine if you already have an apache or tomcat user in your ldap accounts. I had to go through some hoops with this because long ago, the system I created for a satellite pointed to ldap, so it never created a tomcat account. The satellite could not use the ldap tomcat account, and as a result, I could not generate the bootstrap.sh script via command line or the gui until I resolved this. I went through some fixes and finally resolved it later. Just keep that in mind. Now I join satellite servers (when I create them) to ldap only after the server functions fully as a satellite server.

Something to keep in mind. Red Hat even recommended I do not join a new satellite to ldap until after the system works fully.
