RHEL7 Workstation + devtoolset : cannot install

Latest response

Hi

I have registered to a RHEL7 workstation standard subscription and to a Developer Suite subscription.
I can seen that both are attached and active, yet I cannot get the repo list to install the devtools.
I've detached and re-attached several times, I've also cleaned and re-registered everything, but no luck.

Anyone has been confronted to that problem? Have you found a solution?

Thanks
Fred

I guess I found my answer... I had googled and searched the discussions but not found this particular one.
https://access.redhat.com/discussions/970393

the thing is that for me it is clearly stated that you can install DTS on RHEL7 workstation standard, I even opted for standard to be able to use it.
https://access.redhat.com/products/red-hat-enterprise-linux/developers
https://access.redhat.com/articles/911363 (see 4)

so it's kind of disappointing cause my subscription is running, and basically unusable :(

If I understand your issue correctly, there is a work-around. You can contact Red Hat and explain your situation and they can alter your subscription, for the remainder of the time left on the subscription.

I thought that the DTS subscription was all by itself (and is why it cannot be included with the other) and includes the OS subscription. (I could be completely wrong).

I messed up my subscription last year and Red Hat was helpful in resolving it.

From their Red Hat Developer page
https://access.redhat.com/products/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/Developer#dev-page=7

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer Subscriptions provide you a flexible foundation to get started with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. They include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, built-in languages and tools, and related Red Hat Enterprise Linux Add-Ons for development use.

Frederic,

Let me provide some additional information and hopefully provide you some use of from your subscription.

Developer Toolset (DTS) is not yet on RHEL 7 (we're working on it), but you can use DTS on RHEL 6 now and compile on RHEL 6 for deploying on both RHEL 6 and 7.

WRT https://access.redhat.com/products/red-hat-enterprise-linux/developers - I will arrange to make the text a bit clearer for DTS on RHEL7.

WRT https://access.redhat.com/articles/911363 (see 4) - this is correct for Non-RHEL "Developer" subscriptions. All RHEL Developer Subscriptions (including the RHEL Developer Suite) DO include both Software Collections and DTS.

Also, note that Software Collections is available on both RHEL 6 and 7.

I hope this is helpful, but please advise if you have additional questions.

Hi,
thanks guys for your answers.
Do you have any clue as when DTS is to be available on EL7 Workstation Standard?
I can wait, I don't need DTS to be able to edit source and use gcc! I just hope Redhat will postpone the end date of my subscription and make it one year starting from the day DTS is make available. I don't have a EL6 workstation, so I just cannot use it for now.

I also got an answer ([ ref:00DA0000000HxWHMA0.500A000000LGLnzIAH:ref ]) on the case I had opened (#01165173) and I got this answer:
"The developer suit subscription provides an access to devtoolset. however, the system in question is a workstation. and developer suit subscription can be used only for the servers and not for the workstations"

So, at the moment I'm a bit lost... what is right?

Regards,
Fred

DTS 3.0 Beta is now available for RHEL 7. See https://access.redhat.com/discussions/1194333
