Red Hat Small-Market Customer Assessment for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Evaluation (SCALE)

Updated -

Performed by Deloitte & Touche LLP (Deloitte) on behalf of Red Hat

Red Hat is committed to ensuring our customers get the most value and performance from their technology investments. To help achieve this, we occasionally engage with third-party specialists to perform a Red Hat Small-Market Customer Assessment for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Evaluation (SCALE).

This assessment is a collaborative effort designed to provide a clearer view of your current Red Hat technology usage and confirm that your subscriptions are optimally aligned with that usage.

Why is Red Hat conducting this Assessment?

The primary goal of the SCALE assessment is to help our customers accurately understand and optimize their Red Hat environment. By gaining a better understanding of your current deployments, we may be able to:

  • Optimize Your Environment: Identify potential over- or under-subscription scenarios, helping you to see if you're only paying for what you need and are supported where necessary.
  • Future-Proof Your Strategy: Gather data that can help your Red Hat account team and partners recommend the right solutions and support levels for your future growth and technology adoption.
  • Confirm Compliance: Confirm that your current subscription level accurately reflects your usage, which is essential for maintaining the validity of your software support and services.

The Role of Deloitte

Red Hat has engaged Deloitte, a highly respected, objective third-party professional services provider, to conduct these assessments across our global customer base.

If you are selected for and elect to participate in the assessment by Red Hat, Deloitte’s role is to act as an objective third party to perform the detailed subscription verification. Their objectivity helps facilitate that the assessment process is conducted in a fair, objective, and consistent manner globally. They will lead the technical review and provide the necessary assessment support throughout the assessment process.

What to Expect During the Assessment

  • Initial Contact: You will be contacted directly by Deloitte to confirm your participation and to formally begin the SCALE assessment process.
  • Data Collection: Deloitte will work with your technical teams to gather necessary deployment data. This typically involves completing a questionnaire requiring subscription usage data.
  • Review and Analysis: Deloitte will analyze the collected data against your existing Red Hat subscriptions.
  • Report & True-Up: If a subscription shortfall (meaning usage exceeds current subscriptions) is identified, the results will be finalized and provided directly to Red Hat. Red Hat will notify your Red Hat partner if a true-up is required. This partner will then work closely with you to assist with the necessary subscription true-up.

Important Next Steps: The True-Up Period

Should a subscription shortfall be identified, customers are required to complete the necessary true-up (purchasing the required additional subscriptions) within a 45-day period from the date the final results are presented.

We encourage customers to view this process as an opportunity to solidify their Red Hat support and ensure their mission-critical systems are fully covered under their subscription agreements.
