Red Hat JBoss EAP 7 ELS Availability
What’s Happening?
The full support for the JBoss EAP 7 officially ended on June 30, 2025. After this date, customers who require continued support will need to either migrate to EAP 8 or purchase an Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) subscription and be on JBoss EAP 7.4 to maintain support for their existing deployments.
Who is Affected?
This change impacts customers currently receiving support for JBoss EAP 7.x and below.
What Are Your Options?
- Migrate to a newer version: migrate to JBoss EAP 8.x. Upgrading will guarantee full support for 6+ more years, ensuring their applications remain secure and up-to-date.
- Purchase ELS Support: You can continue using JBoss EAP 7.4 by purchasing an Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) subscription. This option will allow you to renew your support yearly, with coverage available until October 2027. Note that ELS should be purchased prior to the start date of the ELS period (e.g.: July 1, 2025, for JBoss EAP 7). Otherwise, the ELS Add-On subscription must be back-dated to that start date.
Migration Guide, Tooling, and More
If you are in the planning stages of your migration, we recommend reviewing the EAP v7 to v8 migration checklist.
Red Hat also provides an EAP 8 migration guide as well as a server migration tool to make it easier to transition.
The Migration Toolkit for Applications (MTA), which assists in analyzing and updating Java applications for newer JDK versions. This toolkit can identify potential code changes, deprecated APIs, and other compatibility issues that may arise when migrating to a newer JDK version.
