Support of Red Hat Middleware products and components on Red Hat OpenShift

Updated -

Red Hat Middleware products are supported on Red Hat OpenShift 3.x and 4.x under the following terms.

Existing middleware life cycles apply to deployments in OpenShift. This article does not modify the life cycle transitions defined in the Product Update and Support Policy.

OpenShift 4.x Versions

Middleware products are tested and maintained for the latest minor version release and the previous minor version release (4.latest and 4.latest -1) of OpenShift. Middleware products are not tested and maintained for older minor versions of OpenShift (older than 4.latest -1).

Customers are expected to update their middleware product distributions with new releases and maintenance packages, and that may require users to update their OpenShift clusters to remain on tested combinations of middleware platforms and OpenShift.

Refer to the exclusions section of this document for additional product specific details.

When OpenShift provides Extended Update Support distributions in late 2020, the versions of OpenShift tested and maintained by middleware will change. Middleware products will be supported in the latest minor version release of OpenShift, and in the supported EUS distribution. Support for the previous minor version (4.latest - 1) will not be provided.

Example:

If OCP 4.6 provides EUS support, middleware products will be supported, tested, and maintained on 4.6 for the duration of the EUS support. Support for 4.7 will be provided when it is released, and that support will end and move to 4.8 when it is released.

Hardware Architectures

A number of products from the Red Hat Runtimes entitlement are available and supported in OpenShift 4 clusters on IBM Z. Those products are EAP 7.3, SSO 7.4, Data Grid 7.3, JWS 5, Open Liberty, Quarkus, Spring Boot, Node.js, Vert.x, and Thorntail.

OpenShift 3.x Versions

Middleware products are supported in OpenShift 3 in the 3.11 version only. Older versions of OpenShift 3.x are not supported.

Refer to the exclusions section of this document for additional product specific details.
