RHBA-2020:4268 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
OpenShift Container Platform 4.5.16 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform release 4.5.16 is now available with
updates to packages and images that fix several bugs.
Description
Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing
Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private
cloud deployments.
This advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform 4.5.16. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this
release:
https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2020:4269
Space precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory.
See the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated
shortly for this release, for details about these changes:
https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.5/release_notes/ocp-4-5-release-notes.html
This update fixes the following bugs among others:
- Previously, a watch cache in the Kubernetes API was initialized from the global revision (`etcd`) and could remain for an undefined period if no changes were made. This behavior could cause the watch cache across server instances to go out of sync, resulting in "Too large resource version" errors. With this release, the reflector is fixed so that it can recover from "Too large resource version" errors and Operators are no longer stuck in a hotloop upon receiving "Too large resource version" errors. (BZ#1880324)
- Previously, a metadata point that contained a username was stored in the Kubernetes label field on the PipelineRun. The label field cannot contain the character `@`, so email-based usernames in the label field were not valid and prevented the Pipeline from starting. With this release, the metadata point is move to the annotation field, which supports the `@` character. (BZ#1883342)
- Previously, the Image Registry Operator panicked because it dereferenced a nil pointer when trying to format the error message for failure to create an an Azure storage container. With this release, the error message is formatted correctly and the Operator no longer panics in this situation. (BZ#1886849)

All OpenShift Container Platform 4.5 users are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate
release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift Console
or the CLI oc command. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available
at
https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.5/updating/updating-cluster-between-minor.html#understanding-upgrade-channels_updating-cluster-between-minor.
Solution
