Topic

An update for vdo is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The vdo packages provide Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO), which is a block virtualization technology that enables you to create compressed and deduplicated pools of block storage.

For detailed information on changes in this release, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 Release Notes linked from the References section.

Users of vdo are advised to upgrade to these updated packages.

Solution

For details on how to apply this update, refer to:

https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation 7 x86_64
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop 7 x86_64

  • BZ - 1535476 - VDO allows removal with backing device missing
  • BZ - 1536515 - VDO Ansible module does not meet upstream Ansible code conventions
  • BZ - 1594406 - VDO volume with 4096 byte block size shows an increasing "bios acknowledged partial write" statistic
  • BZ - 1620572 - vdodumpconfig: Failed to make FileLayer from '/dev/disk/by-id/*' with No such file or directory
  • BZ - 1636047 - document --indexMem disk footprint
  • BZ - 1637762 - Rebase kmod-kvdo to use UDS version 6.2.0.
  • BZ - 1639898 - Improve accounting for missing dedupe queries
  • BZ - 1640794 - dmeventd_vdo.c has code path that can dereference NULL
  • BZ - 1643284 - vdodumpmetadata man page should be removed from vdo package
  • BZ - 1687005 - Loading table with too big physical size spams of type 6 VIO producing System Error -5 (plus soft lockup)
  • BZ - 1687797 - vdo internal 'pvcreate --test' needs to set scan_lv to 1 due to lvm behavior change bug 1676598 when run on LV
  • BZ - 1688481 - Traceback IsADirectoryError on vdo create --logfile=$directory
