Synopsis
evolution bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated evolution packages that address various bugs are now available.
Description
The evolution package includes a mailer, calendar, contact manager and
communication facility. The tools that make up Evolution are tightly
integrated with one another and act as a seamless personal
information-management tool.
This update resolves the following bugs:
- Upgrading Evolution from version 1.4 (or earlier) to version 2.0 caused
Evolution to miscalculate disk space requirements and exit on file systems
larger than 2 terrabytes.
- A problem was discovered in Evolution's mail component. Evolution was
unable to display the content of certain HTML email messages. If the
preview window was unsuccessful in displaying one of these messages, it
would be unable to display any further messages until Evolution was restarted.
- Evolution's help documentation has been updated.
- A problem was discovered in Evolution's calendar synchronization code.
If the user enabled Evolution's ECalendar conduit for gnome-pilot,
configured it to "Split multi-day events", and attempted to synchronize an
"All Day Event" lasting multiple days, Evolution would exit.
- A problem was discovered with the authentication code in Evolution's NNTP
backend. Evolution could report a "Cannot retrieve newsgroups" error when
the user attempted to connect to certain news servers.
Users of evolution should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
these issues.
