  • Oracle Java and Clone Channels

    Posted on

    So - I have pulled down the new thirdparty Oracle Java channels to my base.
    I now still need to clone the Child Channel out to my Clone(s).

    What I am now curious about (and wondering if someone else noticed this and dealt with it)...

    NOTE: my Clones all are a derivative of the original base... (i.e. rhel-x86_64 becomes DBA-rhel-x86_64 or WEB-rhel-x86_64)

    I cloned my Base and Children a few months ago (say 2014-03-01) which contained Oracle Java (1.7.0)

    rhel-x86_64-server-6 => DBA-rhel-x86_64-server-6
    rhel-x86_64-server-supplementary-6 => DBA-rhel-x86_64-server-supplementary-6

    Then I add rhel-x86_64-server-6-thirdparty-oracle-java to rhel-x86_64-server-6 (on 2014-05-14)
    and then clone just that new channel to my existing clone...

    rhel-x86_64-server-6 => DBA-rhel-x86_64-server-6
    rhel-x86_64-server-supplementary-6 => DBA-rhel-x86_64-server-supplementary-6
    rhel-x86_64-server-6-thirdparty-oracle-java => DBA-rhel-x86_64-server-6-thirdparty-oracle-java

    Will I now see the oracle-java packages in both supplementary AND thirdparty-oracle-java?

    I have NOT pulled the trigger on this as I can not predict the behavior (and I don't have a spot to test this at the moment).

    Thoughts?
