No sound over SPICE from CentOS/Fedora guests on RHEV 3

Latest response

Hello,

I have several guests running on RHEV3, including Windows 7 guests, CentOS 6.2, Fedora 14 and RHEL 6.2.

I'm using SPICE, and with Windows 7 everything works fine, audio plays out with no problem, but on the CentOS 6.2 and Fedora 14 guests I get no audio. I have the feeling that something needs to be turned on somewhere, it simply doesn't make sense that Windows 7 works with no problems but RHEL-like linux vms don't.

I have not tried to play audio on the RHEL 6.2 guest because along with Fedora 16 there is a keyboard and mouse freezing issue that renders both unuseable with SPICE (unbeleivable eh). With CentOS and Fedora 14 everything works except audio.

Any advise regarding getting audio working on CentOS/Fed14 would be appreciated.

Are you sure you set them up to be virtual desktops not servers?

So this makes a difference? Not all servers are headless, but I guess I'll give it a try and get back to you.

We don't configure soundcards on virtual servers, only desktops

Thanks Andrew, and yes actually that does make sense.
