Per user tmpfs mounts and scalability
I have a question about the per user /run/user/... tmpfs mounts on a new RHEL 8 server that I'm building to replace an old RHEL 6 system.
I understand why they are being used and how the tmpfs filesystem works and the system does have plenty of physical RAM, so I'm not concerned about that. But this system has around 2000 concurrent users logged in via SSH many of the users have 2 or more sessions which under RHEL 8 would cause around 1000 tmpfs filesystems to be mounted and I have concerns around having so many mounts; Is this likely to cause any issues or am I worrying about nothing?
Cheers
Russell
