Thanks much Christian :)

You're welcome, RJ ! :)

Thanks Christian for the information.

You're welcome, Nikos ! :)

Thanks Christian.

The binary DVD is getting bigger and bigger for each release. It is 9.43 GB now. I also noticed that the "Product Documentation" page for RHEL8.4 is not yet updated. There is only the RHEL8.4 Beta documentation available.

I also noticed that "Convert2RHEL: Now officially supported to convert RHEL-like systems to RHEL". https://access.redhat.com/announcements/5960741

You're welcome, Sadashiva ! :)

Hi Sadashiva,

Just for your information : RHEL 8.4 Release Notes are publicly available now. :)

Regards,
Christian

Yes, thanks Christian. I noticed it a bit late.

Thanks Christian + all for sharing! Here are some additional resources for the RHEL 8.4 release that may be helpful:

Hi Tess,

The release notes I had already mentioned in my response to Sadashiva above. :)
For Scott McBrien's webinar I created a new thread yesterday to promote it a bit.
But the dedicated blog series website seems to be new .. Thank you for sharing !

Gnome shell version? 3.32.2? (I've gone out of town, so no upgrading till Sunday ...)

Yes Nikos ... gnome-shell 3.32.2-30.el8 ... and other GNOME packages are a mix of older and newer versions. :)

Thanks again, Christian. Together with RJ Hinton, you've been the backbones of this forum - always there to help and give answers. Keep up your great job!

I agree with you Nikos. They are most the active community members and ready to help others.

Thank you, Nikos and Sadashiva ! Makes me happy to see that our work here is appreciated. :)

Forgot to say that Sadashiva also belongs to the members who are always willing to assist. :)
Keep up your great work, Sadashiva ... your contributions are much appreciated. Thank you !

Regards,
Christian

Thanks Christian. I'm truly honored and glad that our contributions are being recognized. Red Hat used to motivate community members by offering goodies earlier. Not sure if they have stopped that since I've not received any such since couple of years. Anyways, we always spend time whenever we get to help others here. All the best!

You are right, Sadashiva ... David Powles sent the most active and helpful members some nice
Red Hat swag "every now and then" as a token of appreciation. That stopped completely after
he left. Now that Teresa Santry Baj took over his role as Community Manager it may change ...
Does it Tess ? :) For your information, Sadashiva : The manager role was left unfilled for years.

Regards,
Christian

Thanks Christian. Anticipating in a positive frame. I also noticed that the "The Red Hat Accelerators program" is not yet open for Asia region. Hope that they would accept our nominations soon.

Thank you both, Christian and Sadashiva for all of your continued contributions to the Community! We are currently in the process of planning updates to and revamping our Community Leader program! Stay tuned :)

That is nice. Thank you Teresa for the update.

Thanks for the update information, Tess ! :)

Hi i did sudo dnf upgrade only without --refresh like i always do i upgraded to 8.4 successfully it seems so did i do wrong? In Fedora i always do sudo dnf upgrade so.

Hi Daniel,

You did nothing wrong ... the refresh option just updates the meta data, to get the latest available packages.
It is recommended in case you are running dnf upgrade on a daily basis - if you don't you can drop refresh. :)

Regards,
Christian

Ok thanks for your help :)

Sure thing, Daniel ... you're welcome ! :)

did the upgrade yesterday. two issues 1. the display that is connected to the hdmi port is not working. i can use the http://x.x.x.x:9090 as well as vnc, but the display only has a cursor on the top left corner. 2. two issues with compiling the vmnet module for vmware. found solution to one issue, but had to guess at the second.

fixed my blank screen, it was a vncserver issue.

Glad to read that you could fix this issue, Robert ! :)

Beware: Since upgrading my Intel NUC11TNHi3 the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 keeps crashing every few hours in such a way that the NIC completely disappears.

Stefan,

Honestly curious, is your wifi software directly from Red Hat or from a third party (we don't know). If it is indeed from Red Hat, please submit a bugzilla report so that Red Hat can look to resolve this. Most of those who provide aid here are volunteers (such as myself), and Bona Fide Red-Hatters occasionally do come through the discussion forum, but the best avenue for this would be to submit a bugzilla report (again, if the rpm for your wifi is from Red Hat). Otherwise, if your rpm is from a third party - you may have to take it up with the third party.

Kind Regards,
RJ

Hi RJ,

i filed a bugzilla report as suggested: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1963975

All RPMs pertaining to the OS and kernel are from Red Hat. sudo dnf upgrade --refresh does not yield any more updates.

Hi Stefan,

The bug report is not accessible : "You are not authorized to access bug #1963975." Just FYI ... :)

Regards,
Christian

I suspect that is a default for RHEL bugs. There does not seem to be an option for the reporter to make it public.

The link https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/479/ver=/rhel---8/8.4/x86_64/product-software is out of order since severals days with the message : We'll be back soon. Thank you for your patience. Do you have a another link please ? Regards Franck.

Hi Franck,

I just checked https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/479/ver=/rhel---8/8.4/x86_64/product-software.
The link (still) works as expected for me - I can access it immediately. I don't know what's wrong on your side ... :)

Regards,
Christian

Hi Franck! I'm sorry that page isn't cooperating with you. We don't have any other reports of outage for that page. If it's still happening, can you please try in a private browsing session, just to rule that out? If it's still happening there, we can take a closer look at your user and get you an alternate route to the download you want in the meantime. Thanks!

Hello Shane ! Thanks for your advice , It's ok now. Finally, It was the fault of the forcepoint proxy on my computer. Sorry for the inconvenience. Regards, Franck

Not an inconvenience at all! Glad you got it worked out. - Shane
