rescue mode because of corrupt filesystem

Latest response

Hi there,

Looking for a RHEL7.6 guru who can help me repair a corrupt file system.
How can i transfer the generated logfiles "journalctl" and "/run/initram/rdsosreport.txt" in rescue mode?

Unfortunately booting from CDROM/DVD in Troubleshoot mode is not possible because of a drive problem.

Booting from USB could be possible but i can not create a bootable RHEL7.6 stick.

What to do?

Greetings from The Netherlands,

Mike

Hello Mike,

What kind of server are we talking about, does not it come with a remote access board, like Drac, Ilo, RSA 2 or something similar?

Most remote access boards have virtual DVD drives.

Explain why you cannot create a bootable USB stick, do not you have the appropriate tools or are you unable to download the ISO image?

Hello Jan Gerrit,

Thank you for your fast response.

Red Hat Enerprise Linux 7 is running on a small Acer Personal Computer model Veriton 1000. I think the DVD drive is broke, because the disc is booting on another system.

About creating a bootable USB stick, i do have an RHEL7.6 ISO image file (named: rhel-server-7.6-x86_64-boot.iso), but do not know how to create a bootable USB-disk, can it be made in a Windows environment, which tool or utils to use? Balena Etcher? Tuxboot or just Unix commands on another (virtual) RHEL/CENTOS system (without license/subscriptions).
