Delete a snapshot
Hi All,
After I moved vm disks to another storage domain I have Auto created snapshots and I can't delete them.
It seems that only way to delete those snapshots is plan a maintenance and shut down vm's and delete those snapshots.
I can't find anywhere in documentation about vm status when you want to delete a snapshot.

Yes, snapshots cannot be deleted while the vms are running. It's a feature work in progress for a future release. You need to shutdown the vm to delete the snapshot. You can do this on your usual maintenance window since the vm can run without any issues with this snapshot in place.
Moreover I heard there are some issues to remove them in 3.1 even if you shut it down. So make sure that you are using 3.2.
Snapshots are made up using qcow2 chains. The more snapshots you create, then it creates more files or logical volumes in the chain and data read might need to traverse through all the files/lvs in the chain.
So it's a good practice to remove snapshots which are not needed to mitigate the number of lvs/files in the chain.
