NVIDIA Drivers 384.59 Boot Issue
Hello
After installing RHEL 7.4 on my lenovo P50 laptop and following the RHEL document for blacklisting nouveau and installing nvidia my laptop fails to boot the boot process gets stuck at "Informing UMTP about system runlevel changes".
I've used the same document in the previous version RHEL 7.3 with driver version 375.26, which i also attempted to install just to see if it was a bug in the latest version of RHEL desktop or not, the same issue occurred.
I believe this is either a bug with the latest kernel or a problem with xorg
Can someone point me in the right direction to resolve this ?
I know there are third party repos to get nvidia drivers and other kernels installed however id like to keep my repos and packages to the official branch
Kind Regards
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Although you say that you want to stick with the official repositories exclusively, I recommend to install the drivers that are available in RPM Fusion. Uninstall every NVIDIA software you currently have installed and revert all related settings changes you have made. Then add the EPEL repository and the RPM Fusion repository to your software sources and follow exactly the drivers installation instructions. It's a known fact that installing the drivers from the NVIDIA website causes various kinds of trouble in many cases.

Christian
