How do I install samba on RHEL 7 Desktop
I am trying to install samba on my RHEL v7.2 install (as I have for my previous v6 install) and it is not a listed yum package and no one in support seems to be able to help.
Is this still an available package or have they taken it out of the desktop v7 system?
Which repository is it in and which yum install command do I use to install it.
Thanks,
George

Hi George,
I you specifically need the samba package, which contains the samba daemon, as opposed to the client tools, you need to enable the "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Desktop - Optional (RPMs)" repo. You can do so in the Subscription Manager GUI or with "subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-desktop-optional-rpms". Then you should be able to run "yum install samba" successfully.
Needless to say, you must have access to the base RHEL 7 Desktop repo, too.
