Satellite 6.1 unable to find configuration file on PXE boot

Latest response

I have just set up a new Satellite server and set it to PXE boot , I get and IP address that is in my range that I have defined in the "katello-installer -i" installer in interactive mode but I get the error

TFTP prefix :
Unable to locate configuration file

see attachment

I have figured it out , but what to let anyone searching learn from what I over looked

  1. I looked in the path /var/lib/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg an I did not see any file

  2. I also noticed that the IP addresses where not populating in the GUI when you attempt to create a "new Host"

so I looked into the SUBNETS tab and noticed that the DHCP CAPSULE , TFTP CAPSULE and DNS CAPSULE where set to NONE!!

so I set them to the host name of my satellite server

now if I look in /var/lib/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg

I see one file "01-00-50-56-bc-62-1f" this is the MAC address of my provisioned VM

I hope this post helps others

I am able to provision now

Excellent post and thank you! This pointed me right to where I messed up in the initial installation command line. RH should make this part of a troubleshooting guide for Satellite.

Also works with satellite 6.2.12 ! Thank you very much!!
