Errata Updates for RHEL 5.11

Latest response

I'm running RHEL 5.11 and haven't received any errata updates for several months now when they use to be issued on average 3 to 4 a month. Have they stopped issuing errata updates for for RHEL 5?

Responses

There were 5 errata that came out in November. https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel-server-errata.html

I would think it would be slowing down for RHEL5 since the EOL is coming (March 2017).

RHEL 5 has entered the Production 3 phase of its lifecycle, where there is no more hardware enablement or software enhancements, and errata provided slow down, mostly to critical issues without a workaround.

You can read more about the RHEL lifecycle at https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata/

How are you checking for updates? "yum check-update" (or "yum update") sometimes gives false negatives if there is bad/corrupted data in the local caches. "yum clean all" can fix that. Viewing the errata count on a Satellite server or at redhat.com may also give misleading results; "rhn-profile-sync" usually fixes issues if the problem is on that end.

what is the EOL for RHEL 5.11?

The End-Of-Life for RHEL 5.11 was March 31, 2017, ten years after the introduction of RHEL 5.
