Issue
- What are the supported combinations of Red Hat Enterprise Linux client systems managed by Red Hat Satellite?
- Which RHEL versions and architectures are supported to be provisioned and managed by Red Hat Satellite servers?
- What is the supportability matrix for RHEL clients registered to Satellite?
Resolution
Following is a matrix of which Red Hat Enterprise Linux version (supported versions as listed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle page) can be managed by which version of Red Hat Satellite server:
RHEL Version/Arch (as client system to Satellite) | Satellite Version |
---|---|

RHEL 6(IA-32, PPC, s390x*, x86_64) | Satellite v 5.8, v 6.0+ (RHEL 6.4+ clients only) |
RHEL 7(ppc_64, s390x*, x86_64) | Satellite v 5.8(except RHEL for Real Time 7)**, v 6.0+*** |
RHEL 8(ppc_64, s390x*, x86_64) | Satellite v 5.8, v 6.5+^ |
RHEL 9(ppc_64, s390x*, x86_64) | Satellite v 6.11+ |
Note: Red Hat Satellite 6 only support managing Red Hat products. If you would find value in Satellite managing other platforms, please raise this through your TAM or sales.
*Satellite 6 currently only supports management of s390x client systems, not provisioning. See Supported architectures for provisioning via Satellite 6
