Quay Enterprise 3.x Tested Integrations

Tested Integrations are a defined set of specifically tested configurations and interface points between technologies that represent the most common combinations that Quay customers are using or deploying. For these integrations, Red Hat has directly, or through certified partners, exercised a full range of platform tests as part of the product release process. Issues identified as part of this testing process are highlighted in release notes for Quay Enterprise.

This list of tested integrations will expand over time, however, this page is limited to only covering what Quay supported at the time the minor version GA'ed. This means that it is possible for other configurations to be "tested" and/or "supported" that are not listed.

Platforms and Infrastructure

Red Hat Quay is fully supported running on RHEL, OpenShift and a wide range of infrastructure providers through RHEL hardware and cloud certification. Through the abstractions that containers provide, it is possible to run Red Hat Quay on alternative configurations. Please ensure to refer to the Red Hat Quay Support Policy.

  • Quay relies on an S3 object storage API to store uploaded content. While S3 is not a standardized protocol, many third party vendors have implemented it to a degree where Quay technically works. These configurations have not been tested and are therefore not directly supported. However, a best effort support policy is in place, that will not render a Quay deployment completely unsupported when 3rd party S3 storage used. Support is still provided up to the layer in Quay where it integrates with S3 object storage. Red Hat support will troubleshoot any issue and if there is reason to believe that the root cause is related to a 3rd party storage system, may ask the customer to reproduce the issue with a supported S3 object storage or contact their S3 storage vendor for support directly.
AWS S3 APIs required by Red Hat Quay

Red Hat Quay requires AWS S3 API to operate in tested integrations.

Red Hat Quay uses the S3 API to store container images, manifests, and other metadata. It also uses S3 for distributed storage of container images across multiple regions and for supporting image replication across multiple instances.

Because Red hat Quay supports the AWS S3 API, the following S3 APIs are required.

CreateMultipartUpload Initiates a multipart upload and returns an upload ID.
UploadPart Uploads a part in multipart upload.
CompleteMultipartUpload Completes a multipart upload by assembling previously uploaded parts.
AbortMultipartUpload Aborts a multipart upload.
HeadObject Retrieves metadata from an object without returning the object itself.
UploadPartCopy Uploads a part by copying data from an existing object as data source.
GetObject Retrieves objects from Amazon S3.
DeleteObject Removes the null version of an object an inserts a delete marker, which becomes the latest version of the object.

  • Currently, attempting to configure your Red Hat Quay deployment with the common Azure Blob Storage configuration will not work on IPv6 single stack environments. Because the endpoints of Azure Blob Storage do not support IPv6.
