Support status of Aquantia ACQ107 & ACQ108 based NICs in RHEL 7

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • Aquantia® AQtion™ AQN-108, AQN-107, and other ACQ based NICs using the 'atlantic' driver.

Issue

  • Are NICs based on the Aquantia ACQ107 and ACQ108 chips supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Resolution

Both the ACQ107 and ACQ108 are enabled as a Technology Preview in RHEL 7.4 and 7.5.

A Driver Update Program (DUP) package containing an updated "atlantic" driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 that removes tech-preview status is available from the standard download location for Red Hat Enteprise Linux 7.5 ISOs.

Also, please note: currently RHEL 7 does not support NBase-T (2.5Gb & 5Gb) speeds. NBase-T support is planned for a future release of RHEL.

RHEL 8 has added NBase-T support. Both the ACQ107 and ACQ108 are supported with 2.5Gb and 5Gb speeds, in RHEL 8 (in addition to any other supported speeds.)

NOTE
RHEL 7.X, RHEL 8.3 and earlier are only supported up to FW 3., FW 4.x support will be included in a later version of RHEL 8.x
