ssh fails with error as Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic,password,hostbased).

Issue

  • When executing ssh command like below to login to a ssh server, a permission denied messsage occurs.
$ ssh  ssh-server
Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic,password,hostbased).
  • With "-vv" option shows some debug information.
debug1: Host 'ssh-server' is known and matches the RSA host key.
debug1: Found key in /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts2:1
:
debug2: userauth_hostbased: chost ssh-client-FQDN.
debug2: we sent a hostbased packet, wait for reply
debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey,gssapi-with-mic,password,hostbased
debug1: No more client hostkeys for hostbased authentication.
