Why 'ifconfig' command does not update "arp tables" on routers or systems on the subnet?
Issue
- ifconfig does not update "arp tables" on routers or systems on the subnet
- ifconfig in Solaris will make a gratuitous arp request on the network when an interface is brought up, but linux's ifconfig does not.
