Why do fs.file-nr and lsof output differ in counting file descriptors?
Issue
- The
lsofoutput reports a higher number of file descriptors being used when compared to/proc/sys/fs/file-nr.
# sysctl fs.file-nr
fs.file-nr = 187170 0 13631488
# lsof -u someuser | wc -l
193495
