File ownership on NFSv4 mounts set incorrectly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 or 6.5

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I followed the steps in article: NFSv4 mount incorrectly shows all files with ownership as nobody:nobody and the problem seems to be corrected for a short time but comes back within hours or days.
  • Issuing the command "nfsidmap -c" temporarily restores currently 'wrong' UIDs but there is no telling when or where the "nobody" ID will show back up. What is the permanent fix?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 (kernel < 2.6.32-431.29.2)
  • nfs-utils-1.2.3-39 (must be > 1.2.3-36 and < 1.2.3-40)
