RHEL 8.5 - "The name 1.478 was not provided by any .service files" (comes up in software app)

Latest response

I started getting this strange error when I fire up the software app

"Sorry, something went wrong: The name 1.478 was not provided by any .service files "

Has anybody encountered this? A quick google search indicates it may be a gnome bug (was reported from an Ubuntu user).

Their solution is to reinstall the ubuntu gnome-software package. Seems extreme. FwupdError seems firmware related.

log journal from gnome:

Apr 06 06:18:01 Thinkpad-RHEL gnome-software[3584]: not GsPlugin error FwupdError:10: The name :1.478 was not provided by any .service files

Apr 06 06:18:02 Thinkpad-RHEL gnome-software[3584]: not handling error not-supported for action get-updates: The name :1.478 was not provided >

The post at Link to post provides a way to get rid of the error.

Update: it does come back, though it doesn’t seem to affect the store any. It’s just an ugly error.

thanks for any comments or thoughts.
