OpenShift Container Platform 4.x Tested Integrations (for x86_x64)
Note for 4.11 and earlier versions please see OpenShift Container Platform x86_64 4.x Tested Integrations for Older Versions
Tested Integrations are a defined set of specifically tested configurations and interface points between technologies that represent the most common combinations that Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) customers are using or deploying for the x86_64 architecture.. For these integrations, Red Hat has directly, or through certified partners, exercised a full range of platform tests as part of the product release process. Issues identified as part of this testing process are highlighted in release notes for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. For more information on each of these please see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certified Ecosystem, in the hardware and cloud provider spaces.
If you are looking for information on other cpu architectures, please see this article for more information.
It is possible to run Red Hat OpenShift with alternative configurations, not explicitly listed by this page or as part of the product documentation. Please ensure to refer to the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for more information on how those configurations are supported.
This list of tested integrations is expected to expand over time, however, this page is limited to only covering what OpenShift supported at the time the minor version GA'ed. This means that it is possible for other configurations to be "tested" and/or "supported" that are not listed, due to patch update. Please see the product release notes for more details regarding those configurations.
Terms and Definitions
In order to keep the information on this page brief and simple to read, we will use one to two-word phrases or terms throughout the document to describe how OpenShift is tested in conjunction with other products. If you see the following terms you can refer to these definitions to gain a better understanding of the term.
- IPI: Installer Provisioned Infrastructure, please see the OpenShift Installation Overview for more details on this term.
- UPI: User Provisioned Infrastructure, please see the OpenShift Installation Overview for more details on this term.
- Tested: Where this term is used, Red Hat has explicitly tested OpenShift (for the denoted minor version[s]) with the denoted component, platform, or integration point. Where this term is seen customers should expect the documented features connected/related to this integration to work, and where they do not, users should open a support case so that the issue can be investigated and addressed.
- Not Tested: Not Tested: Where this term is used, Red Hat has not explicitly carried out testing a combination of the designated component with the OpenShift release.
- Not Available: Red Hat is not currently or at the time of the release, offering, supplying, and/or testing any integration between these version or product combinations.
Platforms and Infrastructure
Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is fully supported running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS. Version information for each OCP minor version will be shared below, or as part of the product release notes.

It's a pity that it's not available IPI on VMware vSphere, really we need and we want all the benefits of IPI on this platform.
also no update on vSphere 7.0 or VMware Cloud Foundation VCF 4.0 NSX-T 3.0 and VSan 7.0
Still no update on NSX and vsphere CSI
https://www.openshift.com/blog/fully-automated-openshift-deployments-with-vmware-vsphere https://github.com/openshift/installer/blob/master/docs/user/vsphere/README.md
What about Min.io or other S3 compatibles and open-source storages as alternatives to AWS closed-source S3 option ?
It's tested ?
Hello Sir, I need help. how to install openshift 4.7.7. please you can help me out. my emailid is pradeepchauhan2807@gmail.com. Please if you have any documents/ steps to follow. I tried to install & bootstrap node fetched the liveos file & ignition files and installed. but after boot it throwing the error dhcp bound
I have a doubt about OpenShift deployment on vSphere, It is not clear if it is necessary strongly NXS-T component to deploy OpenShift Container Platform, Could you tell us something about this?
Hello Ricardo,
I have made some successful OpenShift 4.5 installations on vSphere 6.5 without NXS-T component.
Is OpenShift 4.X supported on AWS Outpost?
It's now under tech preview in OCP 4.12. https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.12/installing/installing_aws/installing-aws-outposts-remote-workers.html
This information is great help while cluster designing phase
Red Hat Support confirmed that both NSX-T and Calico are also supported as SDN.
Also, Cisco states that they tested ACI on OpenShift 4.5, but it's unclear to me if Red Hat was involved in that: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/Website/datacenter/aci/virtualization/matrix/virtmatrix.html
This page should be updated to reflect all the supported solutions.
I guess under cri-o version for 4.6 it has to say 1.19 instead of 1.1.9 (notice the dot).
Correct, I will correct this.
Does open shift 4.x on Azure Stack is fully supported? For production setups? I want to know more details on this, except that it has 4.9 showing as tested in the table. Were there any documentation with details of the deployment? We had some serious issues running Linux OS on Azure stack, now we are exploring to use the Stack for OCP 4.x instead of vSphere., Is it wise to go with Azure Stack instead of vSphere??
thanks in advance, i had asked too many questions. :-) - Appreciate if any one throw some light on my queries.,
Please check ocp 4.9 doc for Azure/AzureHub installs: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.9/installing/index.html and also blog post: https://cloud.redhat.com/blog/red-hat-openshift-and-azure-stack-hub
Do you perform installation tests for OCP IPI or UPI in the southamerica-east1 region of GCP?
@Eric, for the sake of readability, would it be possible to remove the OCP versions that we don't support any more? Thanks.
