RHEL server with qlcnic driver experiences link failures, "LOOP DOWN" messages, path failures, I/O errors, and/or crashes when running sosreport or 'ethtool'
Issue
- Running ethtool -S on a QLogic NIC using the qlcnic module causes the system to crash.
- Attempting to generate an SOS Report with the sosreport command causes the system to crash.
- I ran
sosreportand my system was fenced after all of its paths failed
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
kernelreleases prior to3.10.0-229.el7- Using the
qlcnicdriver provided with Red Hat's kernel package (as opposed to a version from the server vendor or QLogic)- See this solution for a similar symptoms with the
