Multipath FS fails to mount on boot with: "mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpatha does not exist"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

On system boot, we get following message:

Remounting root filesystem in read-write mode: [ OK ]
Mounting local filesystems: mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpathc does not exist
mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpathd does not exist
mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpathe does not exist
mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpathf does not exist
mount: special device /dev/mapper/mpathg does not exist
  • But after boot is complete , we are able to mount the FS without doing any changes, why is it so?
