RHEV 2.2 Storage Domains with 1Mb lvm metadata
Issue
-
Due to BZ#720883, some Storage Domains attached to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization(RHEV) environments will have a very small and insufficient lvm metadata size of 1M instead of the expected 100M.
-
This issue is a head up note for customers running RHEV 2.2 with iSCSI or FC Storage Domains.
-
This issue will not be observed untill lvm runs out of lvm metadata space, at which point the setup becomes unusable and probably unrecoverable as described in this article RHEV: VMs randomly becoming paused and seeing 'metadata too large for circular buffer' in vdsm.log after executing LVM commands.
-
That's why we suggest all RHEV 2.2 and migrated in 3.0 customers to check their environments in advance and take preventive actions before running into problems.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2
- Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 that has been migrated from 2.2
- iSCSI or Fibre Channel Data Center
