Importance of Synchronized Clocks in RHEV

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Synchronize time between the RHEV-M and the RHEV-H or RHEL-H nodes. Without synchronized clocks users might experience the following issues:

  • After VM migration, the VM might take a long time to recover or exhibit delayed responsiveness.
  • After VM migration, the VM cannot be shut down. For MS Window systems this behaviour manifests itself in ignored requests to shutdown (for example, “start → shutdown”, “shutdown -t 0 -s”, etc.)
  • After VM migration, the VM time clock might be faster than normal.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3
