"inotify_add_watch(x, /dev/dm-x, 10) failed: No such file or directory" while removing a read-only LVM snapshot

Issue

  • The following message appears when deleting an LVM snapshot volume.
  • The volume was created using lvcreate -L 1G -p r -s -n lv_name_snap vg_name/lv_name:
lvm[PID]: No longer monitoring snapshot vg_name-lv_name_snap
udevd-work[PID]: inotify_add_watch(fd, /dev/dm-*, 10) failed: No such file or directory

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Logical Volume Manager (LVM) read-only snapshots
