Kernel panic may be observed on HP ProLiant G7 systems, running iLO3 firmware 1.80 or earlier

Issue

  • HP ProLiant G7 systems running iLO 3 with iLO firmware version 1.80 or earlier, with with HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities for Linux (hp-health) services running, panic. A fixed pattern is written across locations in system memory (tens of MiB). When these locations are dereferenced, a panic ensues.

  • A "Power restored to iLO" message is seen in the iLO event log.

  • The issue usually occurs after an iLO uptime of 40 days or more.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • HP ProLiant G7 systems.
  • iLO 3 with firmware version 1.80 or earlier and usually with an uptime of 40 days or more.
  • HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities for Linux (hp-health).
