How can I accurately estimate the size of a vmcore file generated by kdump?
Issue
- I am provisioning a dedicated filesystem to store kernel dump files (
vmcore) generated bykdump. - To determine the appropriate size for this filesystem, is it possible to accurately calculate the maximum possible size of a
vmcorefile in advance?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and later
- Systems configured with the
kdumpservice
