QEMU crashing with "failed to set up stack guard page: Cannot allocate memory"

Issue

  • KVM Virtual Machine (VM) is intermittently going down. It crashes with either of the following messages in the QEMU logs:
failed to set up stack guard page: Cannot allocate memory
2024-03-13 01:07:30.795+0000: shutting down, reason=crashed

qemu: qemu_thread_create: Resource temporarily unavailable
2024-03-14 01:19:40.419+0000: shutting down, reason=crashed
