Podman pull fails with error 'x509: certificate signed by unknown authority' on the clients connected to the Red Hat Satellite server

Issue

  • While listing or pulling the images from Red Hat Satellite 6 registry, it fails with the following error.
[root@client ~]# podman search satellite.example.com/
Error: 1 error occurred:
    * couldn't search registry "satellite.example.com": pinging container registry satellite.example.com: Get "https://satellite.example.com/v2/": x509: certificate signed by unknown authority


[root@client ~]# podman pull satellite.example.com/redhat-docker-rhel7_8:latest 
Trying to pull satellite.example.com/redhat-docker-rhel7_8:latest...
Error: initializing source docker://satellite.example.com/redhat-docker-rhel7_8:latest: pinging container registry satellite.example.com: Get "https://satellite.example.com/v2/": x509: certificate signed by unknown authority
