Kickstart : Random storage disks name mapping on the boot sequence

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

On the boot sequence, in an environment with multiple storage devices, the disk's name mapping could be changed from one start up to another.

An example of SCSI disks:

  • A disk discovered and mapped with sda, on the new boot might be sdb.
  • If your kickstart configuration needs to perform tasks on a particular disk, this might not be the correct target

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and later
    • Kickstart
