NVIDIA recently announced an open source driver initiative here. There have been some questions around what Red Hat will do following this announcement. At this time NVIDIA is developing this newer version of their kernel module OOT (out of tree). For more information on OOT drivers please see kernel.org's documentation. Red Hat's policy is "upstream first", and at this time does not have plans to directly include Nvidia's new driver in our offerings. The newer drivers will be available, alongside the older drivers, on NVIDIA's website. For more details about Red Hat's policy regarding 3rd party drivers and software please see this link.
