RHEL7: Shutdown/Reboot takes 5 minutes to complete, console shows "A start job is running for Restore /run/initramfs (XXXs / no limit)" during 5 minutes

Issue

  • When rebooting or shutting down the system, the console shows the following message during 5 minutes

    [...]
[  OK  ] Stopped LVM2 metadata daemon.
[  OK  ] Closed LVM2 metadata daemon socket.
A start job is running for Restore /run/initramfs (XXXs / no limit)

  • The issue doesn't always happen

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
    • shutdown / reboot
