Sending mails using Postfix gives the error "Host or domain name not found"
Issue
- Postfix is unable to resolve the host/domain, in spite of having the entries in
/etc/hosts - While sending, it gives the following error:
to=<user@example.com>, relay=none, delay=0.55, delays=0.13/0.04/0.38/0, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=smtp.example.net type=A: Host not found, try again)

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x
