Mounting storage on pgsql data directory /var/lib/pgsql/ showing Permission denied message

Issue

  • pgsql cluster resource times out on start operation with the permission denied error for agent pgsql:

    Could not change directory to "/var/lib/pgsql/data": Permission denied pg_ctl: could not access directory "/var/lib/pgsql/data": Permission denied

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 (with the High Availability Add-on)
  • Pacemaker
  • PostgreSQL
