Data corruption in VxFS filesystem

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

This application (Abinitio) writes data to files in a VxFS file system. It was noticed that sometimes these files had a gap or hole in the data amounting to 128KB (KiloBytes). As a result of this, the application was unable to decompress the file (using Ab Initio proprietary compression/decompression format). Due to this intermittent problem, report generation was often delayed as the application reports had to be re-run. This issue occurs silently; as such no explicit errors are associated with the issue.

Environment

  • RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.x
  • Local Veritas File System (VxFS) mounts:
    o 6.0.5.100
    o 6.1.1, 6.2
    o 6.2.0.100
  • Abinitio Application.
