Error messages "libinput error: client bug: timer event6 debounce: offset negative" observed in RHEL 8.3

Issue

  • Mouse click abnormality observed and the keyboard input doesn't work.

  • Messages of following nature observed and logged in /var/log/messages :

    org.gnome.Shell.desktop[2477]: libinput error: client bug: timer event6 debounce: offset negative (-131ms)
org.gnome.Shell.desktop[2477]: libinput error: client bug: timer event6 debounce: offset negative (-43ms)
org.gnome.Shell.desktop[2477]: libinput error: client bug: timer event6 debounce short: offset negative (-56ms)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.3
  • gnome-shell-3.32.2-20.el8
  • libinput-1.14.3-1.el8
  • mutter-3.32.2-48.el8
